The Il Moretto farm takes its name from Giorgio Conti, who was nicknamed Il Moretto ("the dark one") from a young age due to his dark complexion and curly black hair. His passion for authentic traditions, together with his desire to promote local production, convinced him to set up a company that today produces wines of excellent quality, all strictly from grapes grown in its own vineyards.
Located on the slopes of the Candia Hills, between Massa and the foothills of the Apuan Alps, the 5 hectares of vineyards of Azienda Il Moretto are divided into several parcels. The favorable exposure and sea breezes promote balanced ripening. Vineyard management follows low-impact practices, with the goal of producing healthy, intact grapes that fully express the character of the territory.
Il Moretto now offers four types of wines, D.O.C. and I.G.T., suitable for accompanying a complete meal, all characterised by the authenticity of the ingredients and respect for the traditional winemaking process.
